OUTLINE: One of the things that makes photography so special is the artist's submission to unpredictability and chance. Some of the world's most famous images weren't planned -- they were taken in a passing moment, one that couldn't be replicated or reimagined. 

"A Photo You Couldn't Have Planned" is an open-ended concept that applies to a multitude of different types and genres of photography. For this contest, we are looking for images that capture serendipity, coincidence, or unique moments that only happen once. Some examples of this might include: a subject entering the frame at just the right moment, a light leak that somehow elevates the image, an unexpected chemical reaction during processing, an accidental double exposure, or an interaction among people, light, and place that couldn't have been directed or recreated.

With an elite judging panel, high-value prizes, and good competition, we anticipate a well-rounded and diverse set of submissions.

Submissions (1-3 images) can be humorous, beautiful, strange, or even quietly poetic in their symbolism. There are no "rights" or "wrongs" in interpreting this prompt, but we are looking for photographs that capture the essence of chance that exists only in photography.
