  • Share photos primarily on social media
  • Make prints 8x10" and smaller
  • Prefer the most cost-effective option
  • Want flexibility to upgrade to TIFF files later

Standard 4K works best if you:
  • Make large prints (11x14" and bigger)

Pro Scans are ideal if you:
  • Need custom color matching

What's your approach to scanning?

Our scanning approach focuses on providing you with the strongest foundation for your creative work:

Technical Excellence: Clean, sharp scans with accurate color reproduction
Data Preservation: We maintain shadow and highlight detail to give you full control during editing
Color Accuracy: Proper color correction that reflects your film's unique characteristics
Creative Flexibility: Scans that provide room for interpretation and personal editing style
Professional Value: High-quality results at accessible pricing

Our Professional Equipment:
  • Scanning: Noritsu HS-1800 scanners with daily calibration and color accuracy checks
  • Development: Fleet of well-maintained Noritsu V50 roller transport machines
  • Chemistry: Fuji chemistry for color processing, Kodak Tmax Developer for black & white

We believe your scans should serve as a faithful starting point for your creative process. Whether you prefer them as-delivered or enjoy extensive post-processing, we provide the optimal foundation for your vision.

Do you scan half-frame cameras?

Yes, we process half-frame cameras, which create distinctive intimate images with their unique format.

Compatible cameras: Any half-frame model including Olympus Pen series, Canon Demi, Ricoh Auto Half, and others.

Additional cost: $7.99 per roll for members, $9.99 per roll for non-members

Pricing rationale: Half-frame cameras produce twice the number of exposures per roll (72 instead of 36), requiring double the scanning time and individual attention for each smaller frame.

Results: Properly exposed scans that capture the unique aesthetic of half-frame photography, well-suited for photo books, social media, or artistic projects.

Can you scan the film borders?

Film border inclusion varies by format due to technical limitations:

35mm Film: Our Noritsu HS-1800 scanner's scanning area doesn't extend wide enough to capture full film rebates (edge text and markings).

120 Film: Yes, we can overscan 120 film to include black borders around your images, providing the classic medium format aesthetic.

Requesting borders: When creating your order, note "please overscan for borders" in the film notes section.

How do I get my scanned images?

Your scans are delivered through our custom-built platform designed specifically for film photographers - this is what sets us apart from other labs:

Professional Film Photography Platform: Unlike basic online galleries, your scans are hosted on a sophisticated platform we built from the ground up to service film photography workflows.

Intelligent Organization & Search:
  • Scans are automatically tagged and easily searchable
  • Organized by order, film roll, ISO, and native process
  • Find any specific image instantly with advanced filtering

Seamless Workflow Integration:
  • Order prints directly from your account with one click
  • Generate quick and easy download links for sharing
  • Mobile-optimized viewing experience
  • Full-resolution files ready for editing or printing

Professional Sharing Tools: Create secure links to share your work with clients, friends, or on social media without requiring account creation.

Notifications: You'll receive both email and SMS alerts when your scans are ready to view on the platform.

Why This Matters: This comprehensive platform creates a completely seamless experience from scan delivery to print ordering - something no other lab offers. It's designed by film photographers, for film photographers.

How long do you store my scans?

Storage duration varies based on your membership status:

Members: Scans remain accessible on our custom platform throughout your active membership period, which can extend for years. This means your entire photo library stays searchable, organized, and available for instant print ordering - we believe your photography should always be accessible when you need it.

Non-Members: Scans are stored for 30 days from the upload date on our platform, providing sufficient time for download and backup.

Platform Benefits During Storage:
  • Advanced search and filtering capabilities remain active
  • All organizational features (by roll, ISO, process) stay functional
  • Direct print ordering available throughout storage period
  • Professional sharing tools accessible anytime

Important note: Non-members should download images promptly. We send reminder notifications as your 30-day access window approaches.

Membership consideration: Regular film photographers find membership valuable not only for cost savings but also for indefinite access to their complete, organized photo library on our custom platform.

Ready to upgrade your film photography experience? Compare membership benefits on our pricing page or start your membership today for unlimited scan storage and more.

Do you offer push/pull processing?

Yes, we offer push and pull processing for both 35mm and 120 film to achieve specific creative and technical effects:

What is Push/Pull Processing?
  • Push Processing: Overdeveloping film shot at higher ISO than its box speed to compensate for underexposure
  • Pull Processing: Underdeveloping film shot at lower ISO than its box speed to prevent overexposure

How to Request: When creating your order, select "Advanced Film Options" to specify push/pull requirements for each roll, including the number of stops and specific instructions.

Common Applications:
  • Low light photography without flash
  • Intentional over/underexposure for artistic effect
  • Compensating for expired film
  • Achieving specific grain characteristics

Technical Expertise: Our experienced technicians adjust development times and temperatures using our professional Noritsu V50 machines to achieve optimal results for your creative vision.

Pricing: Additional $2.99 per roll for all push/pull processing services.
