Product Description
In collaboration with Nice Editions and VSCO, photographer and educator Jared Thomas Tapy leads a two-part film photography workshop that follows the photographic process from exposure to critique. Through a guided photowalk and collaborative review session, participants will gain insight into how Jared approaches street photography—from observing a scene and anticipating a moment to editing and evaluating a finished body of work.
With a maximum of 20 participants, this two-part workshop will be intimate, hands-on, and centered around meaningful discussion, personalized feedback, and community.
TICKET HOLDERS WILL RECEIVE:
- Participation in The Photowalk + Critique
- Development, Scanning & 4x6 prints for 2 rolls of film
- 1 Free Month of VSCO Pro
- Guidance and Advice from Jared Thomas Tapy
SESSION 01 - The Photowalk
Saturday, July 12th, 12 pm
The workshop begins with a group meeting at the designated walk starting point (provided after ticket purchase). Participants will spend more than two hours photographing alongside Jared as he demonstrates his process and discusses the instinctive decision-making that shapes his street photography practice.
Following the walk, participants will drop off their exposed rolls at Nice Film Club for development and scanning in preparation for the second session.
When purchasing a ticket for this workshop, participants will receive development and scanning credits for two rolls. More than two rolls will incur an additional fee that will apply at checkout.
SESSION 02 - The Critique
Wednesday, July 15th, 6 pm
The second session brings the group back together at Nice Editions, the gallery and event space located above Nice Film Club. Participants will receive 4×6 prints from the rolls they photographed during the photowalk and take part in a guided critique led by Jared.
Together, the group will review selected images, discuss editing choices, identify strengths within the work, and explore opportunities for growth. The session is designed to offer constructive feedback, encourage dialogue among peers, and provide a deeper understanding of how photographs evolve from a fleeting moment into a finished image.
